Ductless Mini Split Installation

Ductless Mini Split Installation Without the Runaround.

Ductless is where this company carries its highest credential: Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, the factory’s top tier, earned with training and held with install quality. What that means for your garage suite, addition, casita, or whole-home conversion is factory-spec work, the extended Diamond warranty, and linesets clean enough to photograph, which we do.

Installation · Burnet & Central Texas

The Diamond Standard, Explained

Mini splits look simple, a wall unit, an outside unit, a lineset between, and that apparent simplicity is exactly why so many get installed badly by generalists and handymen. The machines are precision inverter systems: flare connections that must be torqued to specification or they weep refrigerant for years, vacuum and charge procedures less forgiving than conventional equipment, condensate routing that decides whether the sleek wall unit ever drips, and communication wiring with opinions. Diamond Contractor status exists because the factory knows this: it is training, verified install quality, and continuing education, and it is why Diamond-installed systems carry up to twelve years of parts and compressor coverage instead of the standard terms.

Around the Highland Lakes, ductless is often simply the right answer: the garage becoming a gym or office, the boathouse room, the casita and guest cottage, the addition that the existing system cannot reach, the older stone house that ducts would disfigure, and increasingly the whole-home multi-zone conversion chosen on efficiency merits. Room-by-room inverter comfort with no duct losses is a genuinely better mousetrap for these cases, and the zone economics, conditioning only the spaces in use, show up on real bills.

Our installs are the full craft: heads placed for airflow and aesthetics both, linesets routed clean and covered, flares made and torqued to spec, deep vacuum verified, charge trimmed by weight where runs demand, condensate engineered, and every zone commissioned with the readings in your file.

There is also a Hill Country layer to this work that out-of-area advice never accounts for. Limestone terrain around Burnet soaks up heat all day and radiates it back through the evening, so equipment here runs longer and later than the same unit would in a milder market. Humidity rolling off Buchanan, LBJ, and the rest of the Highland Lakes chain works on coils, drain lines, and cabinet steel every month of the year. Then winter shows up sideways: a sixty-degree afternoon collapsing into an overnight freeze finds every marginal component in the county at once. Doing ductless installation correctly here means doing it for this climate, with parts choices and settings that respect what Central Texas actually does to machinery.

Where Ductless Wins Around the Lakes

The applications that fill our ductless calendar, each one a case where the technology is the honest best answer.

Garages, gyms, and shopsThe classic: a conditioned garage without ducting the house into it. Sized for Texas garage heat loads, which are their own animal.
Casitas and guest cottagesIndependent comfort for the lake-country guest quarters, quiet enough for sleeping and efficient enough for part-time use.
Additions and sunroomsThe room the old system cannot reach gets its own zone instead of a strained duct extension that steals from everywhere else.
Duct-hostile older homesStone walls and precious plaster stay intact; comfort arrives through a three-inch penetration and craftsmanship.
Whole-home multi-zoneThe full conversion: several indoor heads, one or two outdoor units, room-level control, and no attic duct losses at all.
Problem roomsThe bonus room over the garage, the west-facing office, solved surgically instead of system-wide.

Why Off Duty

Installed to Be Photographed

You can read a ductless installer’s standards from the driveway: how the lineset runs. Straight, secured, properly covered runs that respect the house’s lines are the visible signature of invisible discipline, correct flares beneath the covers, correct vacuum behind the charge. Sagging exposed copper draped down a wall is the visible signature of everything else. Our gallery carries real lineset photos because that shot is the credential in practice, and because a customer should get to see the standard before buying it. The same discipline runs indoors: heads level and placed for actual air throw, condensate falling correctly, penetrations sealed clean.

The Diamond warranty deserves its plain-English paragraph: qualifying Mitsubishi systems installed by Diamond Contractors carry extended coverage, up to twelve years parts and compressor, registered by us as part of the job. Same equipment from a non-certified installer: standard coverage, roughly half. The certification literally changes what your purchase includes, before any judgment about workmanship, which is why the first question to ask any ductless bidder is their tier. Ours is on the truck, the hero of our home page, and the reason the factory keeps inviting us back to training.

Every ductless installation call runs the same four steps we run on everything. You call (512) 925-3090 and a real person answers, any hour of any day. We diagnose with gauges and meters, never with guesses, until the actual cause is proven. Then we explain it straight: the failure, the fix, and the exact price, in plain English, before any work starts. Finally we do the work to spec and verify it under load before the truck leaves. Temperatures checked, pressures checked, paperwork handled. It is the same process that earned the reviews on our reviews page, and it does not change based on the size of the job.

On pricing, the policy is the same as everything else here: out loud and up front. The visit cost gets stated on the phone before anyone drives anywhere. The repair price gets stated after diagnosis and before work. No packages with hidden contents, no commission-driven upsell in the truck, and no number on the invoice you did not already hear.

A word about waiting it out. Central Texas weather does not leave much grace period, and a system limping in May is a system down in July, when everyone else’s is down too and the schedule is at its tightest. The early call gets the easy appointment and, usually, the smaller invoice. The July call gets the queue. Texas rewards the prepared, and so does our schedule.

You will also know exactly who is in your house. This company runs on one standard because it mostly runs on one set of hands: Bryce, second-generation in the trade, with every credential on the about page and every kind of job photographed in the gallery. Small shop, short chain of accountability, no strangers in rotation.

Coverage is the same as everything else we do: Burnet at the center, about 100 miles in every direction. That means the lake towns, Marble Falls, Kingsland, Horseshoe Bay, the corridor through Leander, Cedar Park, and Georgetown, plus Austin, Bell County, and the outer ring through Waco, San Marcos, New Braunfels, Fredericksburg, and Boerne. The full sixteen-county list lives on the service areas page, and if you sit just past the edge of it, call anyway and get an honest answer.

The Standard

How This Work Gets Done Here

Here is the standard this work gets held to, spelled out. First, no guessing: the cause is proven with gauges, meters, and eyes on the actual equipment before a single part is recommended. Second, no padding: the fix that goes on the quote is the fix the system needs, sized and specced properly, with no mystery add-ons riding along. Third, no shortcuts: torque specs, code clearances, and manufacturer procedure all get followed even where nobody will ever look, because that is precisely where corners usually get cut.

And when it is done, it gets proven. Systems get run under real load, temperatures and pressures get checked against spec, and the numbers get recorded so the next visit starts from data instead of memory. You get the plain-English version of what was done and why, the workspace gets cleaned, and the price on the invoice is the price you heard before the work began. Hold us to all of it. Our neighbors in the reviews already do.

Ductless Mini Split Installation Questions

Asked Before We Roll a Truck

The ones the phone line hears most for this service, with the answers given at full length instead of sales-brochure length.

How much does mini split installation cost?

Single-zone installs, the garage, the addition, are among the most accessible projects in the catalog, and multi-zone systems scale with heads and complexity, with equipment tier and lineset runs driving the honest spread. Real numbers come from the free look, which for ductless is quick: the space, the electrical, the routing, and you get a written quote with equipment options side by side. Worth flagging: ductless quotes vary wildly between shops partly because installation standards do. When comparing, ask about certification tier, warranty terms, and vacuum-and-torque procedure. The cheap bid is usually cheap somewhere that matters.

Do mini splits heat too, or just cool?

They heat, excellently, every system we install is a heat pump, and the Mitsubishi hyper-heat tiers hold full heating capacity into genuinely cold weather, which covers Central Texas freezes with room to spare. For garages, casitas, and additions this means one wall unit solves the whole year, and for whole-home conversions it means the mini split system is the heating system, at heat pump operating costs. The heating question usually surprises people pleasantly; the machine on the wall in August is the same one keeping the casita warm when the norther arrives.

Where should the indoor unit go?

Where the air throw serves the room, which is a design decision, never a convenience one. High on a wall with clear projection across the space, clear of obstructions and direct sun on the sensor, positioned so airflow reaches the sitting and sleeping areas without blasting them, and with condensate able to fall properly to drain. Aesthetics get respected too, we place for sight lines and lineset routing, and ceiling cassettes and low-wall units exist for rooms where the standard head fights the design. The walkthrough settles placement together, with the reasons explained.

How disruptive is the installation?

Refreshingly little, which is half the product’s charm. A typical single-zone install is one day: a three-inch penetration, the head mounted, lineset routed and covered, outdoor unit set, then the refrigerant and electrical craft, no ducts, no drywall surgery, no attic archaeology. Multi-zone projects run two to four days by head count and routing. The house stays livable throughout, floors get protected, penetrations get sealed properly, and the site leaves clean. Compared to what conventional retrofit ducting does to a week and a house, ductless installation is almost anticlimactic. The commissioning is still ceremony though; every zone proves itself before we go.

Are mini splits reliable long-term?

The quality platforms, installed correctly, are among the most reliable equipment in the industry, Mitsubishi’s inverter systems particularly, which is part of why the factory confidently extends twelve-year Diamond coverage. The reliability caveats are the installation sins: weeping flares from torque guesswork, moisture in circuits from skipped vacuum verification, and drainage improvisations, all invisible at handoff, all expensive later, all exactly what certification training exists to prevent. Maintain them lightly but regularly, clean filters, an annual professional look, coils and condensate serviced, and a Diamond-installed system is a fifteen-year appliance that never becomes a story.
